I would gladly trade some data for a diary. Its great to know the when and where, but knowing the real who and how would be even better. My next project is to sit my last living grandparent in front of a video camera and re-tell all those family stories so I can have them forever and they won't be forgotten.

I've been an Ancestry.com user for about a year now and really love it. I'd been interested in doing family research for a long time, but never had the time to do all the leg work it requires. But Ancestry has made it pretty easy. Fortunately, I've had a pretty good experience when it comes to helping (and getting help) from other users, but it is disappointing to hear that some don't even think a "thank you" is worth their time. Good luck in your continued research.

What a wonderful story! I, too, am fascinated by the stories, the hardships, the shot-gun weddings, the quilting bees, the happy memories that we find in the pages of the countless genealogy searches and in the minds of our beloved (and not so beloved) ancestors! Thanks for reprinting this here for me to find.
